On Tuesday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ahmad Al-Saadoun, kicked off a session that had been regularly scheduled with a variety of issues on the table for the Members of Parliament (MPs), one of which was an interpellation of the Minister of Public Works. The interpellation was scheduled to take place on Wednesday. One of the other matters that needed to be addressed by the Members of Parliament was the question that needed to be posed to the Minister of Public Works.
MP Hamdan Al-Azmi has requested the Minister of Public Works, Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Amani Bugammaz to come to the podium for her to answer questions concerning her alleged engagement in conflict of interests, waste of public funds, providing members of parliament with false information, and sabotage of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.
On Monday of the week before, the request was delivered to Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun, and he promptly told the Prime Minister that there was a possibility of interpellation. If the minister so chooses, they can request that the questioning be postponed for a length of time equal to two weeks’ worth of time.
The members of parliament will take into consideration any proposals that have been made to create committees to investigate issues such as the allocation of industrial lots, food insecurity, the challenges that are faced by local agricultural commodities, and retiree pensions (MPs).
In addition to this, they are going to discuss the proposition that was made to establish a committee to assess the contracts that were made to purchase Eurofighter Typhoon and Caracal planes. This will take place after they have discussed the previous topic. This suggestion was created to evaluate the agreements that were signed to buy these kinds of aircraft.
It is to be anticipated that the legislators will talk about the current status of the economy, the possibility of renaming the job of a maid to the domestic worker, and maybe even the possibility of talking about the option of enrolling in the military forces.
In addition to this, the House of Representatives intends to discuss the potential of submitting a request to the Constitutional Court to have certain clauses clarified.
